Job summary

Turner Construction Company in the Advanced Technology Group seeks an experienced preconstruction leader to manage BU estimating, develop cost strategies, and drive milestones from inception through start of construction. This senior role reports to the General Manager and can be performed remotely within the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field and 10+ years construction experience.
• Experience with variety of building construction types.
• Thorough understanding of drawings, specs, contracts, materials and methods.
• Ability to develop client relationships and identify sales opportunities.
• Extensive knowledge of regional market, competition and trends.
• Advanced project management skills and ability to move projects forward in a complex environment.
• Management experience and ability to coach/mentor others.
• Strong negotiation skills and executive-level presentation abilities.
• Energetic, proactive, and capable of cross-level collaboration.
• Sound judgment and critical thinking for decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Manage BU Estimating department and estimating functions during preconstruction.
• Allocate resources for estimating and reimburse related G&A expenses.
• Develop and maintain client, architect, design community and trade partner relationships.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance feedback for staff.
• Oversee review of drawings, specs, and documents; flag risks to senior management.
• Develop lump sum bids and obtain senior management approval.
• Perform market research for upcoming work.
• Coordinate GC/GR estimate development and maintain historical data.
• Lead Value Engineering and constructability reviews during preconstruction.
• Collaborate with Business Development on proposals and client presentations.
• Coordinate with Procurement on procurement schedules and subcontractor proposals.
• Support Launch Matrix and meeting management for estimating milestones.
• Develop variance messages and executive communications for stakeholders.
• Support Target Value Design processes for select projects.
