Job summary

Skanska USA in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Engineer to lead estimating and preconstruction services across interior construction, exterior envelope, structural, civil, and MEP disciplines. You will interpret drawings, develop clear estimate clarifications, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.

You will engage with subcontractors, solicit bids, present results, mentor junior staff, and help meet critical deadlines while upholding Skanska's values and benchmarking

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with commercial construction estimating and estimating software solutions.
• 2+ years with common preconstruction software (Sage Timberline/Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam) and BIM/VDC quantity takeoff workflows.
• 2+ years of subcontractor engagement and market knowledge, with demonstrated ability to solicit bids, perform post-bid analysis, and maintain vendor relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or 8 years equivalent experience plus a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate, timely, and cost-effective estimates across interior construction, exterior envelope, structural, civil, and MEP disciplines.
• Interpret drawings and specifications, develop clear estimate clarifications, propose and track value management options, and leverage benchmarking tools.
• Engage with subcontractors to build relationships, solicit bids, participate in bid package development and post-bid analysis, and present results.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous learning within the preconstruction organization while meeting critical deadlines.
