Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to drive program execution across nationwide data center campuses, guiding initial planning, through design development, to provide schedule forecasting, construction budgeting, and constructability guidance.

You will be the primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Due Diligence and other partner teams, coordinating bid reviews, contracting, and handoff documentation while traveling about 25% of the time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction or project management experience.
• Experience managing and negotiating contracts and vendor relationships.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.

Responsibilities

• Possess a foundational knowledge of critical data center equipment (generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, power feeders & busduct, chillers, plumbing, fire detection/suppression, AHUs).
• Conduct constructability reviews of critical scopes for new data center builds and drive baseline improvements.
• Evaluate civil, structural and electrical build phasing for potential sites.
• Define and communicate site requirements affecting schedule, cost, and integration with surroundings.
• Negotiate with land sellers, developers, GCs; evaluate bids, proposals, and scoping documents.
• Manage GCs and third-party vendors delivering preconstruction services during design.
• Define construction scopes and RFPs; review bid summaries, schedules, milestones and pricing.
• Assist issuing contracting documents (Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Work Letters).
• Create handoff documentation for Construction Manager partners.
• Capture and share lessons learned to improve design and construction teams across the program.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
