Qualifications

• Two (2) years of responsible clerical work experience in the preparation and processing of payroll documents/forms and/or in the preparation and processing of vouchers, invoices and statements.
• One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience which involved the examination and verification of payroll documents/forms, invoices, vouchers, statements and other request for payment for completeness, accuracy, legality, and propriety.
• Legal Authorization To Work Requirement – The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Physical Requirements – Some positions may require lifting and carrying objects of varying weights without assistance or with the assistance of another person and/or the use of equipment (e.g. hoisting equipment, hand truck, etc.) for heavier loads, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Substitutions Allowed – Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Audit Clerks examine and verify payrolls and vouchers for accuracy and compliance with laws, rules, and policies.
• Examine, prior to payment, vouchered claims against the State for propriety of the charge and for compliance with the indicated appropriation.
• Examine payroll claims for compliance with statutes, rules, policies, and procedures; supervise and participate in clerical pre-auditing work.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
