Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization Senior P&C Field Services Technician to support projects across the western U.S. You will perform protection and control testing at high voltage substations, using Omicron and Doble test sets, while enforcing safety and quality standards.

The role requires 9+ years in electrical testing, strong relay knowledge, and hands-on field leadership. Expect extensive travel (up to 80%) and a focus on data quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 9+ years in electrical testing, HV/MV breakers, transformers, and substation protection testing.
• Expertise with transmission/generation/distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families) and protective schemes.
• Proficiency with relay calibration and testing using Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, plus microprocessor relay programming.
• Knowledge of testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Experience with 15–500 kV systems and protective relays and breakers.
• Strong documentation skills and field data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform HV substations protection and control testing and commissioning.
• Conduct on-site protective relay testing with specified test sets.
• Follow safety protocols and participate in daily safety briefings.
• Document site activities using logs, sketches, and digital reports.
• Provide technical direction and support to junior staff on projects.
• Lead safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and regulatory walkthroughs.
• Coordinate with subcontractors for testing logistics and equipment deployment.
• Maintain calibration logs for field equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate field status and risks to project leadership.
• Travel to project locations up to 80% as required.
