Job summary

Eversource Energy in Hartford, CT seeks a Senior Engineer to lead advanced power system modeling, EMT analysis, and planning studies. You will work with ISO-NE and regional stakeholders to evaluate transmission solutions for future needs, including renewables and energy storage.

The role requires five+ years in transmission planning, strong software skills, and the ability to communicate findings to diverse audiences. Hybrid work arrangements and cross-functional collaboration are available.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of electrical theory applied to planning an electric power supply system.
• Experience using power system modeling and simulation software for steady state, voltage, short circuit, stability, and EMT transients.
• Extensive experience with inverter-based resource modeling and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and present scenario and probabilistic planning studies under various system conditions.
• Provide engineering input to develop robust, low-cost transmission solutions.
• Interface with ISO-NE, area transmission owners, and internal groups to address system needs and growth.
• Coordinate studies by vendors and consultants and integrate conclusions into company initiatives.
• Prepare engineering outputs and summarize in reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop long-range planning standards for new technologies (PV, EV, battery storage).
• Support operations through outage coordination studies and other reliability assessments.
• Develop EMT models for transmission and substation equipment including lines, transformers, condensers, and IBRs.
