Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking a Principal Engineer for Transmission System Planning. Based in a hybrid arrangement, you will lead advanced system planning studies, develop model improvements, and guide recommendations for long‑range planning of the bulk electric system, including imports, generation, storage, and energy markets.

You will collaborate with ISO-NE, NPCC, and regional committees to ensure compliance with NERC standards, drive robust reliability analyses, and represent Eversource in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; power systems specialization preferred.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems specialization preferred.
• PE License preferred; 10+ years of power system design and software simulations experience.
• Experience applying NERC/NPCC/ISO-NE standards and planning procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical specialist to transmission planning and lead complex engineering assessments.
• Prepare documentation and testimony for regulatory filings or compliance studies.
• Present recommendations to management and participate in regional/regulatory committees.
• Lead reliability and planning studies including thermal, voltage, short-circuit, stability, and EMTP analyses.
• Coordinate with ISO-NE, area transmission owners, and other Eversource departments to document system needs and compliance.
