Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a senior electrical engineering leader to own the design of modular power integration skids for utility-scale projects and data centers. You will align internal teams to translate high-level architectures into mass-manufacturable assets and drive production readiness.

You will collaborate across electrical, mechanical, software controls, and supply chain groups, manage external partners, and own cost targets while scaling configurations for high-volume deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 12+ years of direct experience productizing complex, multi-disciplinary industrial systems.
• Deep technical knowledge of power conversion systems, including MV transformers, central inverters, switchgear, and high-current busbar/cabling systems.
• Demonstrated experience driving the engineering lifecycle of modular hardware systems, including design-to-cost, supplier capacity scaling, field reliability, and configuration control.
• Strong cross-functional leadership translating diverse technical requirements into manufacturing-ready designs.
• Demonstrated success directing 3rd-party design, engineering, or CM partners from concept through to volume production.
• Strong working knowledge of grid interconnection standards, utility protection schemes, and safety/compliance (IEEE 1547, UL 1741 SB/SA, NFPA 70/NEC, NFPA 855).
• SCADA integration experience (bonus).

Responsibilities

• Take full engineering ownership of Mainspring's next-generation modular power integration skids, translating high-level system architectures into production-ready assets through design, validation, and manufacturing release.
• Define and own the skid-level power topology for utility-scale and data center sites, ensuring seamless integration of generators, central inverters, transformers, switchgear, and energy storage.
• Own detailed skid engineering decisions: hardware selection, layout, thermal management, environmental protection (NEMA/IP), manufacturability, and field serviceability.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, project delivery, software controls, and supply chain teams to extract and freeze system requirements.
• Direct and manage third-party design firms and external manufacturers as the primary technical contact to align outputs with specs and quality standards.
• Drive scalability and production readiness of larger skid configurations with suppliers, optimizing hardware standardization and installation efficiency.
• Own the skid's cost target and drive design-to-cost trade-offs across hardware, supplier strategy, and configuration options.
• Develop a site design configuration tool to specify the optimal inverter and skid configuration per site requirements.
