Job summary

Mainspring is seeking an experienced engineer to own the architecture of modular power integration skids for utility-scale sites and data centers. You will coordinate electrical, mechanical, software controls, and supply chain teams to deliver mass-manufacturable, configurable power solutions.

You will drive design-to-cost decisions, manage third-party designers and CM partners, and ensure compliance with grid standards while scaling production for high-volume deployment at the Menlo Park HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 18+ years of experience productizing complex industrial systems.
• Deep knowledge of power conversion systems including MV transformers, central inverters, switchgear, and BESS.
• Experience driving modular hardware lifecycles with design-to-cost, supplier scaling, and field reliability.
• Strong cross-functional leadership translating electrical, mechanical, and operations requirements into a manufacturing-ready design.
• Experience managing 3rd-party design, engineering, or CM partners end-to-end.
• Knowledge of grid interconnection standards (IEEE 1547, UL 1741 SB/SA, NFPA 70/NEC, NFPA 855).

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of Mainspring's next-generation modular power integration skids from concept to manufacturing release.
• Define and own skid-level power topology for utility-scale and data center sites.
• Own detailed skid engineering decisions: hardware selection, layout, thermal management, environmental protection, and field serviceability.
• Partner with internal teams to extract, synthesize, and freeze system requirements.
• Direct and manage third-party design firms and external manufacturers to meet specs and quality standards.
• Drive scalability and production readiness of larger skid configurations with suppliers.
• Own the skid's cost target and drive design-to-cost trade-offs.
• Develop a site design configuration tool specifying optimal inverter and skid configuration.
