Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a senior Electrical Engineer to own the architecture of modular power skids for large-scale sites, coordinating across electrical, mechanical, software controls, and supply chain teams. You will manage external design partners and drive cost-efficient, scalable, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 24+ years of direct experience productizing complex industrial systems.
• Deep knowledge of power conversion systems including MV transformers, central inverters, switchgear, protective relays, and BESS.
• Experience driving engineering lifecycle and design-to-cost in modular hardware systems.
• Strong cross-functional leadership translating requirements from electrical, mechanical, and operations teams into manufacturing-ready designs.
• Experience directing 3rd-party design, engineering, or CM partners from concept to high-volume production.
• Knowledge of grid interconnection standards and safety/compliance frameworks (IEEE 1547, UL 1741 SB/SA, NFPA 70/Nec, NFPA 855)

Responsibilities

• Take full engineering ownership of next-generation modular power integration skids from concept through validation and manufacturing release.
• Define skid-level power topology for utility-scale and data center sites, ensuring integration of generators, central inverters, transformers, switchgear, and energy storage.
• Own detailed skid engineering decisions: hardware selection, layout, thermal management, protection, manufacturability, and serviceability.
• Collaborate with internal teams to extract, synthesize, and freeze comprehensive system requirements.
• Direct and manage third-party design firms and external manufacturers as the primary technical contact.
• Drive scalability and production readiness of larger skid configurations with suppliers for high-volume replication.
• Own the skid's cost target and drive design-to-cost trade-offs across hardware and supplier strategy.
• Develop a site design configuration tool specifying optimal inverter and skid configurations based on site requirements.
