Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to serve as a technical authority for power systems within the OneMHS program. You will drive standardization, innovate power distribution, and lead hardware development for material handling systems across global fulfillment centers.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems and distribution for material handling applications.
• Design and specify MDBs, PDPs, substations with proper sizing and protection coordination.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and panel schedules for facility power needs.
• Perform power quality, fault current, and coordination studies for reliability and safety.
• Select transformers, switchgear, breakers, bus ducts, and related equipment.
• Create modular, scalable power distribution prioritizing reliability and maintainability.
• Establish best practices for panel placement, grounding, and safety circuit design.
• Perform detailed electrical load calculations including demand factors and future capacity planning.
• Perform arc flash calculations and labeling per NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584.
• Develop arc flash labeling programs and ensure labeling compliance across MDBs and subsystems.
• Prepare complete architectural/engineering drawing sets and ensure constructible designs.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and civil teams for integrated designs.
• Manage drawing revisions and as-built documentation to meet specifications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and standardize electrical specifications across projects.
• Drive project execution from initiation through commissioning and manage risk.
