Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer to lead design, development, and implementation of electrical power distribution and control systems for material handling projects at One MHS. You will design power systems, control architectures, and safety devices, while ensuring NEC compliance and scalable, reliable solutions.

You will collaborate with mechanical, software, and project management teams, perform in-field audits, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
• 4+ years of experience in electrical and controls design for industrial or material handling systems
• Strong knowledge of EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, and PROFINET protocols
• Proficiency with IPCs, PLC programming, and SCADA system design
• Experience with sensor technologies, encoders, and safety devices
• Understanding of NEC and its application to industrial installations
• Experience with 3-phase and single-phase power distribution design
• Ability to conduct in-field installation audits and ensure code compliance
• Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN)

Responsibilities

• Design power and controls systems for material handling projects
• Develop electrical layouts, schematics, and panel standards
• Create scalable power distribution and safety-focused designs
• Establish best practices for panel placement and grounding
• Develop single-line diagrams and panel schedules
• Design and implement industrial networks (EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET)
• Architect control systems with IPCs, PLCs, and SCADA
• Specify and integrate VFDs, sensors, encoders, and safety devices
• Ensure NEC/NFPA compliance and safe system operation
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across functions
