Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of high‑reliability power electronics for secure, high‑speed communication hardware used in aerospace platforms.

You will own power conversion stages, EMI mitigation, and PFC solutions, working with cross‑functional teams through the product lifecycle, with opportunities to influence system verification, qualification, and factory transition.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on design expertise with power supply topologies (buck, boost, flyback, forward, resonant, PFC).
• Strong understanding of power supply control schemes and compensation for stability.
• Thorough EMC/EMI knowledge and regulatory compliance experience.
• Experience in schematic capture and PCB design for power supplies.
• Ability to perform power electronics simulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of DC/DC and AC/DC converters, motor controllers, and power supplies.
• Perform circuit analysis, modeling, simulation, and component selection per requirements.
• Create engineering documentation: requirements, schematics, BOMs, test plans.
• Support integration, verification, and qualification testing of designs.
• Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, and Digital Hardware teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and address power conversion reliability and EMI/thermal issues.
