Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design and development of DC/DC and AC/DC converters, motor controllers, and power supplies for aerospace systems.

You will perform circuit analysis, simulations, document design, support testing, and collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing and Digital Hardware teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of power electronics hardware including DC/DC and AC/DC converters, motor controllers, and power supplies.
• Perform circuit analysis, modeling, simulation, and component selection aligned to system requirements.
• Generate engineering documentation: requirements, design descriptions, schematics, BOMs, and test plans.
• Support integration, verification, validation, and qualification testing new and existing designs.
• Partner with Systems, Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing and Digital Hardware teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Diagnose and solve issues related to power conversion performance, reliability, EMI/EMC, and thermal behavior.
• Ensure adherence to aerospace standards and mission assurance expectations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support a culture of technical excellence.
