Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy, reliable, and scalable. You will work across Java, Node.js, Python, SQL, Kafka, Databricks, and more to diagnose issues, improve performance, and add focused features.

You will monitor production, extend observability, and collaborate with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence to own components long-term. Remote/hybrid work with optional travel, typical 40-hour weeks, and pay range below.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient in Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and fault handling.
• Experience with Azure or similar cloud, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Clear communicator and reliability mindset.
• Hands-on with observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting).

Responsibilities

• Cross-Stack Maintenance - Maintain and support services across the full platform; understand components and integration.
• Reliability Engineering - Monitor health, investigate issues, resolve bottlenecks and scaling constraints.
• Feature Implementation - Design and ship focused features across platform components for clarity and maintainability.
• Observability - Extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting for production visibility.
• Performance and scale - Profile and tune components under load; enable reliable scaling.
• Quality - Write tests, code reviews, and uphold engineering standards for production readiness.
• Incident response - Participate in on-call rotation, drive root-cause analysis, and durable fixes.
• Collaboration - Work with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence for long-term ownership.
