Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy, reliable, and scalable.

You’ll work across Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL to diagnose issues, improve performance, and implement focused features that keep a complex system running smoothly. You will be responsible for monitoring, incident response, and reliability engineering across the full stack, with emphasis on observability, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a strong bias toward

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Proficient in Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL across a polyglot stack.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, event-driven patterns, and failures.
• Hands-on observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Experience with Azure or equivalent cloud infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD.
• Strong maintenance mindset and ability to document and maintain code.
• Clear communicator able to explain complex systems to engineers and non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support services across the full platform.
• Monitor platform health, investigate issues, resolve bottlenecks.
• Design and ship focused features across platform components.
• Extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Profile and tune components under load; help scale as demand grows.
• Write tests, participate in code reviews, uphold engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence for long-term ownership.
