Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to maintain a healthy, reliable NBA platform spanning Java/Drools, React/Node/Postgres, Node.js/Temporal, Kafka, and Databricks pipelines. You will diagnose issues, improve performance, and implement focused enhancements across a complex stack.

You will contribute to reliability, observability, and incident response, while collaborating with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence to own long‑term platform components.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Comfortable reading and extending code in Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure or equivalent) with containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Maintenance mindset: prioritize reliability, clean, well‑documented code, and operational health.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support services across the full platform; build and keep current knowledge of each component and how they integrate.
• Monitor platform health, investigate production issues, and resolve bottlenecks, failures, and scaling constraints.
• Design and ship focused features, enhancements, and technical improvements across platform components.
• Extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting for clear production visibility.
• Profile and tune components under load; help the platform scale reliably as member volume and data throughput grow.
• Write tests, participate in code reviews, and uphold engineering standards for production‑ready changes.
• Participate in on‑call rotation; lead root‑cause analysis and durable fixes.
• Collaborate with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence to understand new components and long‑term ownership.
