Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy, reliable, and scalable. You will work across Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL, and own observability, incident response, and continuous improvement across a complex cloud-based stack.

You will collaborate with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence to implement focused features, monitor health, and drive performance. Remote/Hybrid work with occasional office visits may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Proficient in reading and debugging Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL.
• Experience with distributed systems, API design, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on observability: logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Experience with Azure or equivalent cloud infrastructure, containers/Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Cross-Stack Maintenance across the full platform and components.
• Reliability Engineering: monitor health, diagnose issues, and resolve bottlenecks.
• Feature Implementation across platform components for clarity and maintainability.
• Observability: extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Performance and scale: profile and tune under load and scale.
• Quality: write tests, code reviews, and production-ready changes.
• Incident response: participate in on-call, root-cause analysis, durable fixes.
• Collaboration with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence.
