Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. seeks a senior software engineer for a hybrid onsite/remote role within the Enterprise Integrated Systems team.

You will help design and implement platform capabilities across multiple products, solving distributed systems challenges and shaping technical roadmaps with Product Managers and Architects. You will lead critical subsystems through design, production support, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Go and Python.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise-grade software.
• Experience designing distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing frameworks, performance benchmarking, and observability platforms such as Splunk, AppDynamics, or ThousandEyes.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability, Linux internals, and performance engineering.
• Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing architecture across multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex platform capabilities spanning multiple products and engineering teams.
• Drive scalable, reusable, and maintainable software designs that improve product quality, reliability, and customer experience.
• Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and Development teams to shape technical roadmaps and influence product direction.
• Own critical subsystems throughout their lifecycle—from design through production support and continuous improvement.
• Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, observability, CI/CD, and performance engineering.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through coaching, design guidance, and technical leadership.
• Lead technical investigations, performance optimization, and root cause analysis for complex customer issues.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural improvements that enhance scalability, security, and developer productivity.
