Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. in the United States seeks a senior platform engineer to drive architecture and delivery of enterprise platform capabilities across multiple products and teams.

You will design scalable, containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes, build robust REST APIs, and influence product direction with strong technical leadership. You will mentor engineers, champion observability and performance engineering, and own subsystems end-to-end from design to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE with 6+ years of related experience, or Master’s with 4+ years.
• Production-quality Go and Python development experience.
• Designing distributed systems, REST APIs, and containerized apps with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing, and observability tools like Splunk/AppDynamics/ThousandEyes.
• Strong knowledge of architecture, scalability, Linux internals, and performance engineering.
• Experience leading design discussions and influencing multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and implementation of complex platform capabilities across products.
• Drive scalable, reusable software designs improving reliability and customer experience.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Architects to shape roadmaps.
• Own subsystems from design through production support and improvement.
• Promote engineering excellence via reviews, automated tests, observability, CI/CD, and performance work.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical bar through guidance and leadership.
• Lead investigations, performance optimization, and root-cause analysis for issues.
