Job summary

Cisco is seeking a senior platform engineer to lead architecture and delivery of scalable, enterprise-grade platform capabilities. You will collaborate across product teams to design robust subsystems, drive performance improvements, and mentor engineers in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, REST APIs, containerization, and observability, with a focus on enterprise deployments and on-premise readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelors + 8 years or Masters + 6 years in CS/CE or related field.
• Proficiency in Go and Python with production-quality software.
• Experience designing distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing, performance benchmarking, and observability tools.
• Understanding of software architecture, Linux, scalability, reliability, and performance engineering.
• Leading technical design discussions and mentoring multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of platform capabilities across products and teams.
• Drive scalable, reusable software designs to improve quality and reliability.
• Partner with PMs, Architects, and Dev teams to shape technical roadmaps.
• Own subsystems from design to production support and continuous improvement.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, testing, observability, and CI/CD.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical bar through guidance and leadership.
• Lead investigations, performance optimization, and root-cause analysis of issues.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and propose architectural improvements for scalability and security.
