Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a senior platform engineer to lead architecture and drive scalable, maintainable systems across multiple products.

You will work with distributed teams, focusing on Kubernetes-based deployment, performance optimization, and observability using Splunk and related tools. The role emphasizes technical leadership, ownership of subsystems, and collaboration with Product Management to define roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years experience, or Master's with 6+ years experience.
• Proficiency in Go and Python with production-quality software.
• Experience designing distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and containerized apps using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, automated testing, performance benchmarking, and observability (Splunk, AppDynamics, ThousandEyes).
• Understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability, Linux internals, and performance engineering.
• Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing architecture across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of platform capabilities across products and teams.
• Drive scalable, reusable software designs improving quality and reliability.
• Partner with Product Managers and Development teams to shape roadmaps and direction.
• Own subsystems from design to production support and improvement.
• Promote engineering excellence via design/code reviews, testing, observability, and CI/CD.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical bar through leadership.
