Affirm is hiring for a senior Data Platform Engineer to architect, operate, and scale the data infrastructure that supports our online checkout and analytics stack. You will design platform features, enforce governance, and build self-service tools that empower engineering teams at scale.

The role emphasizes reliability, security, and cost efficiency in a remote-first environment, with a focus on data tooling, semantic layers, and AI-ready workflows across the broader Affirm platform.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a cloud analytic data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) including governance and cost optimization.
• Experience building and operating containerized apps, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
• Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, or self-service infra for engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate platform features for data apps at scale, including provisioning, pipelines, and reliability tooling.
• Build secure integrations between platform and internal systems (CI/CD, identity, external APIs).
• Strengthen data access governance with RBAC, masked views, and cross-database grants.
• Automate toil to enable self-service for platform users and reduce manual admin work.
• Improve observability with telemetry, alerts, and runbooks to shorten recovery time.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance with care for workflows.
