Job summary

Altana is a network for trusted trade building AI-powered product platforms and scalable APIs. The Engineering team crafts the platform, APIs, services, and workflows, collaborating with Data Scientists to derive world-scale insights.

You will design, implement, and deploy customer-facing workflows, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions across complex, data-driven systems, ensuring quality and maintainability while aligning with a clear roadmap.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of real-world professional experience writing back end or data-driven software in demanding environments.
• Deployed production code and services to cloud-hosted environments.
• Experience delivering incremental releases from proof-of-concept to MVP to production.
• Self-starter with experience on large, complex problems.
• Cares deeply about engineering excellence, clean code, and knowledge-sharing.
• Experience taking over codebases and developing new features.
• Able to prioritize areas of focus intentionally.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading other engineers on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Ingest product requirements, define technical requirements, and design iterative designs.
• Work with product manager to develop implementation plans against roadmaps.
• Maintain, develop, and deploy customer-facing workflows and overall product architecture.
• Analyze and propose technical solutions to enhance product offerings.
• Automate, test, and deploy team work.
• Review code and designs, maintain high quality.
• Mentor engineers and help them level up their skills.
• Oversee day-to-day technical excellence of the team; align with roadmaps.
• Drive technical decisions ensuring scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Identify gaps and create plans to address them.
• Serve as domain expert for portions of the product surface area.
• Cooperate with leads and managers to keep focus on outcomes.
