Job summary

Altana is seeking an experienced engineer to build AI-powered platforms and scalable APIs. You will own backend architecture, deploy services to cloud environments, and mentor a team of engineers tackling large, data-driven problems.

A strong emphasis on clean code and collaboration with product teams is required. The role supports fully remote or hub-based work with hybrid flexibility across major US cities, including New York, Boston, DC, and San Francisco.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of real-world professional backend or data-driven software experience.
• Has deployed production code and services to cloud-hosted environments.
• Experience delivering incremental releases from PoC to MVP to production.
• Self-starter with experience tackling large, complex problems.
• Values engineering excellence, clean code, and knowledge sharing.
• Experience taking over codebases and driving new feature development.
• Strong prioritization skills and clear area of focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, plus leadership of engineers.

Responsibilities

• Ingest product requirements, define technical requirements, and design practical, iterative tech designs.
• Work with product managers to map plans against roadmaps.
• Maintain, develop, and deploy customer-facing workflows and overall product architecture.
• Analyze and propose technical solutions to enhance product offerings.
• Automate, test, and deploy your and your team's work.
• Review code and designs, maintaining high-quality standards.
• Mentor developers to level up their skills.
• Ensure technical excellence and on-time delivery against roadmap.
