Job summary

Altana is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead a small team in building AI-powered product surfaces that scale across a diverse customer base. You will embed with product and design, engage with users, and turn hypotheses into shipped, adopted products.

You’ll own end‑to‑end outcomes and set a high technical bar for your team. You will work on a platform driven by AI, focusing on maintainability, telemetry, and customer impact, with hybrid work options across hub locations including SF.

Qualifications

• You’ve deployed production code and services to cloud-hosted environments.
• You have demonstrated experience delivering incremental releases from proof‑of‑concept to MVP to production.
• Self‑starter with demonstrated experience working on large, complex problems.
• You care deeply about engineering excellence, clean code, and knowledge‑sharing.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading other engineers on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers embedded with product and design to translate customer needs into shipped products.
• Partner with product to define what to build and design smallest experiments to prove value.
• Take new product surfaces from 0 to 1 with prototype, ship, and drive adoption.
• Build AI-native capabilities with LLMs, agents, evals, retrieval, and modern AI tooling.
• Own end‑to‑end outcomes from initial conversation to telemetry six months later.
• Set the technical bar by reviewing designs and code with a customer-outcome focus.
