Job summary

Koppers Inc. is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to improve plant reliability, safety, and performance across equipment, systems, and maintenance programs.

You will collaborate with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering to troubleshoot issues and strengthen preventive and predictive maintenance practices. The role demands 5+ years in industrial maintenance or related engineering, plus knowledge of RCFA, PM, PdM, and API codes when possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 5+ years experience; or an Associate degree with 10 years experience.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing or heavy/process manufacturing preferred.
• Commitment to Zero Harm and strong safety adherence.
• Industrial maintenance, reliability, and troubleshooting experience.
• Knowledge of PM, PdM, condition monitoring, RCFA experience.
• API codes (510/570/650) preferred; ability to read drawings and use CMMS/ERP Navision.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day maintenance engineering support for plant equipment and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot recurring equipment issues with Maintenance/Production.
• Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop and improve PM and PdM programs to reduce downtime.
• Support equipment inspections, reliability assessments, and integrity activities.
• Recommend spare parts and inventory strategies for reliability.
• Assist with maintenance capital projects under $300,000.
• Provide training and guidance to maintenance team members.
