Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Piping Engineer in Reston, VA to perform advanced evaluations of piping systems in accordance with ASME codes. The role includes preparing and reviewing complex calculations, developing designs, and supervising staff to meet project goals.

The position requires a BS/MS in engineering, 5+ years of experience, familiarity with B31.1 and related codes, and experience with piping design and analysis tools such as AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with ABET accreditation.
• 5+ years of relevant piping engineering experience.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME BPV Section III piping codes.
• Experience in pipe supporting elements design and application.
• Proficiency with piping design tools and analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex calculations and designs.
• Review system/structural designs and prepare complex system designs.
• Prepare design inputs for drawings (P&IDs, Master Diagrams) and review inputs.
• Prepare equipment specifications and material specifications.
• Prepare bid evaluations and data for economic analyses.
• Develop project budgets, schedules, and work plans; monitor progress.
