Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Piping Engineer to perform engineering calculations, develop complex piping designs, and review P&IDs and master diagrams. The role supports project teams on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office presence three days per week.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, a mechanical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, and knowledge of ASME B31.1 and related piping codes. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related ABET-accredited program with emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Must have knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
• Knowledge of design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements.
• Working knowledge of piping products and their application.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex calculations.
• Review simple system/structural designs and prepare complex system designs.
• Prepare design input for drawings (P&IDs and Master Diagrams) and review input.
• Prepare and review equipment specifications and material specifications.
• Prepare bid evaluations and calculations for economic evaluations; solicit data from vendors.
• Prepare and review simple reports/studies.
• Develop budgets, schedules, and project work plans; monitor progress.
• Provide single-discipline input to simple proposals.
• Communicate clearly in meetings with client and provide timely meeting notes.
