Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior Piping Engineer to provide technical direction on piping analysis and design projects. The role requires leading project teams, reviewing complex calculations, and coordinating interfaces across disciplines.

The position features a hybrid schedule with in-office work 3 days per week, and requires a strong background in ASME B31.1 and related codes, plus a PE license and 10+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, from an ABET-accredited program, with emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis
• P.E. license
• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Extensive knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME BPV Section III piping codes
• Knowledge of pipe supporting elements design, selection, and application
• Working knowledge of piping products and their application
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical direction and supervision to project teams; establish schedules and budgets
• Review complex calculations and approve simpler ones; ensure technical soundness
• Review and approve system/structural designs; ensure quality, constructability, operability
• Perform engineering review of drawings and define client expectations for drawings
• Prepare and review major system specifications and vendor submittals
• Prepare and review single-discipline and multi-discipline reports and studies
• Lead teams in applying automation and AI to improve workflows and design processes
