Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Subject Matter Expert to lead end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across notices, corrections, and amendments.

The role focuses on expert problem solving, knowledge transfer, and process improvement within a virtual team. The Staff Payroll Tax Processor will own the most complex cases, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns and payroll error correction across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notice types; able to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across states with complex local requirements.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex state and federal payroll tax notices, owning full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended payroll tax returns (Form 941-X and state equivalents) across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple periods or jurisdictions, tracing to original payroll run.
• Maintain high productivity by resolving correction and notice requests with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, and propose resolutions to management.
• Coach senior processors and share resolution process knowledge to build team capability.
• Contribute to SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors and propose corrective actions.
