Intuit, Inc. seeks a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to serve as SME on end-to-end payroll tax issue resolution across notices, corrections, and amendments. This remote role provides knowledge transfer to the team and drives process improvements.

The position focuses on resolving complex state and federal notices, preparing amended returns (941-X, W-2c), and coaching staff to build capability. Responsibilities include leading case lifecycles, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to SOPs and knowledge

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with a demonstrated focus on tax defect resolution for notice response, amended return preparation, and payroll error correction across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types; proven ability to independently draft penalty abatement requests and formal agency response letters with complete supporting documentation.
• Hands-on experience preparing and approving amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across all states, including jurisdictions with complex local requirements such as PA, OH, and more.
• CPP preferred; EA strong differentiator; experience in payroll service bureaus, PEOs, or multi-client environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices in the team's queue, owning the full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X and state equivalents) across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; trace discrepancies and drive correction workflow.
• Maintain high productivity case resolution with high accuracy.
• Coaching and mentoring for Senior Payroll Tax Processors; conduct structured coaching sessions.

Education

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
