Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax SME to lead end-to-end resolution of complex payroll tax issues across notices, corrections and amendments. The Staff Payroll Tax Processor will act as a technical lead, guiding less experienced staff and owning the most complex cases in the queue while driving process improvements and SOP/KB authoring.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax focused on notice resolution, amended returns, and corrections across multiple states.
• Independent drafting of penalty abatements and agency response letters with full documentation.
• Experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (e.g., 941-X, W-2c) across diverse jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, managing full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end, with reconciliations.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors across multiple periods; trace to payroll runs and drive full correction workflows.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving corrections, amendments, and notices with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP and identify aging cases; address blockers with root-cause analysis and recommended resolutions.
• Serve as real-time resource for Senior Processors, coaching and sharing resolution processes.
