Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Processor SME to lead complex tax defect resolution across notices, corrections, and amendments. You will own the case lifecycle, mentor junior staff, and contribute to SOPs and knowledge bases.

This remote, part-time role offers flexible hours and opportunities to work with cross-functional teams while ensuring accurate, compliant payroll tax filings across multiple states.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and payroll corrections across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses with documentation.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across states including PA and OH.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law: FICA, FUTA, FITW, deposit schedules, penalties and interest.
• Multi-state payroll tax expertise: reciprocal agreements, resident vs nonresident taxation, SUI, local tax compliance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, owning full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple periods; trace discrepancies to payroll runs and drive complete correction workflow.
• Maintain high productivity resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notice resolutions with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; propose solutions with root-cause analysis.
