Job summary

Intuit is hiring a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to act as a senior SME, resolving complex payroll tax notices across multiple states. The role leads case lifecycle, mentors teammates, and drives improvements in processes and knowledge transfer.

The candidate will prepare and file amended Federal and State returns (Form 941-X, W-2c), ensure accuracy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve end-to-end tax issues.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Hands-on experience preparing and approving amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and state/local requirements.
• Lead or SME experience; coaching junior staff through complex resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, including multi-quarter and multi-state scenarios, owning full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, state equivalents) across many states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across pay periods, tracing discrepancies to payroll runs.
• Maintain high productivity in case resolution with accurate corrections and adherence to QA standards.
• Coach and support Senior Payroll Tax Processors, share knowledge, and improve team capability.
