Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead complex state and federal payroll tax issues, including notices, amendments, and corrections. You will file amended returns and coach other staff while acting as a technical lead for end-to-end case resolution.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices and penalty abatement basics.
• Hands-on with Form 941-X and state amendments, cross-state reconciliation.
• Deep federal and multi-state payroll tax law knowledge and compliance.
• Experience as a lead, SME, or mentor coaching junior staff.
• Strong written skills for SOPs and knowledge base articles; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices, owning full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across many states.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods and jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity in corrections, amendments, and notices resolution.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases, and escalate blockers with root-cause analysis.
• Serve as real-time resource for senior processors and coach team members.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Contribute to team meetings, QA sessions, and knowledge sharing.
• Author and review SOPs and KB articles, identifying recurring errors.
• Identify trends and communicate findings with recommended responses.
• Collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.
