Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to drive complex payroll tax issues, team coaching, and SOP governance in a virtual, flexible-hour setting.

You will approve intricate amended filings, oversee SOPs/KBs, and support continuous process improvement across multiple states. You will act as the primary escalation resource, own resourcing decisions, and collaborate with M1 leadership to align on risk and workflow enhancements while leveraging AI tools for

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching or training juniors.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing rules across US jurisdictions, incl. municipal taxes.
• Advanced writing skills to author and approve SOPs and technical docs.
• Strong ownership of SLAs with proactive flag-flag resolution before impact.
• Validation-first mindset with data-driven problem solving for leadership.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations handling high-volume needs.
• Comfort with AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1/TP2/TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own writing and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Maintain oversight of WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing needs.
• Resolve severe State and Federal payroll tax notices, including IRS discrepancies.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate findings with data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with a compliance-first mindset.
