Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on complex defect resolution, notice response, and multi-state amendments.
• Lead/SME experience with coaching or training junior staff on nuanced resolution scenarios.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions, including local and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills to create, review, and approve SOPs and technical documents for a tax processor audience.
• Strong ownership of SLAs; identify red flags and resolve workflow barriers before impact.
• Validation-first mindset; present vetted solutions and alternatives to leadership.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume needs.
• Comfort with using AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, and TP3 staff and teach resolution paths to build team capability.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching sessions with team members using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups as backup facilitator.
• Maintain oversight of WIP, backlog, and aging reports; recommend staffing changes to leadership.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices including IRS/state inquiries across jurisdictions.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate findings with data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings and provide compliant risk-informed options.
