Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and SME to drive critical payroll tax initiatives and resolve the most complex escalations. You will govern SOPs, coach the team, and ensure strong governance across tax processes in a flexible, virtual work setting.

You will own and optimize SOPs, mentor staff, and lead high-stakes tax resolution efforts while aligning with cross-functional partners to maintain compliant, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Former lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching/mentoring junior staff.
• Deep knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions including PA and OH.
• Advanced writing skills to create/review/approve SOPs and technical documents for a tax processor audience.
• Strong ownership of SLAs, identifying red flags, and resolving barriers before impact.
• Proven ability to handle highly sensitive escalations independently across customer and internal peers.
• Experience in contact center/back-office operations enabling high-volume service needs.
• Comfort with leveraging AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for complex questions and resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct formal coaching sessions quarterly to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP and backlog to recommend staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states and IRS discrepancies.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks, communicating with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed alternatives.
