Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert for Payroll Tax Operations. This technical leadership role tasks you with resolving the most complex escalations, governing SOPs, coaching the team, and ensuring strong process discipline.

You will own SOPs, drive team capability, and oversee risk-managed operations while collaborating with cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Qualifications

• More than 4 years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as lead, SME, or senior specialist with mentoring and training.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regs including local/municipal programs.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical docs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead team huddles and QA sessions; backup facilitator for Daily Stand-Ups.
• Monitor WIP, backlog, and aging reports; recommend staffing changes.
• Resolve severe state and federal payroll tax notices, including multi-quarter IRS issues.
• Approve highly complex amended Federal/State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with risk-informed alternatives.
