Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to steer payroll tax operations. This role handles the most complex escalations and governs SOPs, while coaching the team to build capacity and reduce backlogs.

You will ensure compliance across multi-state filings and lead critical resolution efforts. You will be the go-to technical expert for the team, owning governance on procedures and driving continuous improvement with data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience coaching or mentoring junior staff in resolving nuanced issues.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations and local/state programs.
• Strong writing skills to create and approve SOPs and technical docs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary expert for TP1-TP3 staff, guiding complex resolutions.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and knowledge base articles.
• Conduct formal coaching sessions quarterly to close skill gaps.
• Lead team huddles and stand-ups as backup facilitator when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing changes as needed.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states; ensure audit trails.
• Approve complex amended Federal/State returns with proper reconciliation.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate with data-driven recommendations.
