Intuit seeks a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead complex notice responses, amended returns, and multi-state corrections. The role focuses on expert tax defect resolution, mentoring peers, and driving process improvements across the team.

The position emphasizes independent case ownership, coaching junior staff, and building team capability while ensuring accurate, compliant outcomes for customers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with a focus on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and payroll corrections across multiple states.
• Experience drafting penalty abatement requests and formal agency response letters with full documentation.
• Hands-on experience preparing and approving amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State returns across multiple states.
• CPP/EA/CPA preferred; CPP expected within 18 months; FPC accepted for 5+ years in tax defect resolution.

Responsabilités

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, owning full life cycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states; reconcile to original returns.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors across periods; trace to payroll run and drive corrections to resolution.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving correction, amendment, and notice requests with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; propose root-cause fixes and actions up the chain.
• Coach Senior Payroll Tax Processors; provide real-time support via Slack, Zoom, and side sessions.
• Contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and process improvement meetings.
• Author and review SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors and recommend fixes.
