Job summary

PhxPhxProConnect in Miami is seeking a Payroll Tax & Compliance Director to lead tax and payroll compliance efforts, collaborating closely with the Controller and CFO. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and mastery of payroll law at state and federal levels, with hands-on experience in payroll software and accounting systems.

Qualifications

• Primary responsibility for Tax and Compliance.
• Experience and proficiency in utilizing payroll and accounting software.
• Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to payroll.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to investigate, document and resolve issues professionally.
• Experience planning and delivering multiple projects on time and within budget; Excel strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor and train staff.
• File multistate payroll tax returns for federal, state and local jurisdictions.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
• Make timely deposits of taxes and ensure tax returns are filed accurately.
• Assist clients with payroll tax questions, respond to inquiries, tax notices and audits.
• Research updated laws and regulations regarding taxes and withholding procedures.
• Communicate and reconcile records with internal staff or external vendors/customers as needed.
• Verify implementation for new clients, POA, EFT setup, and YTD figures.
• Work with Payroll and Implementation Managers on check history uploads and YTD history.
• Handle daily tax deposits for multiple companies to multiple state tax agencies.
• Reconcile tax-related transactions between payroll and tax systems.
