Job summary

Baker Tilly US is seeking a Senior Payroll Consultant to support payroll operations, compliance, and process improvement for diverse client engagements. You’ll work with teams to deliver accurate, timely payroll solutions and navigate multistate regulations.

The role requires 3 years of payroll experience, knowledge of forms (941, 941-X, W-2C), and familiarity with ADP, Workday, SAP or Oracle/PeopleSoft. Mostly remote, with office visits within 50 miles of listed Baker Tilly locations.

Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll experience, ideally in consulting or payroll provider
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, multistate regulations, and compliance
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C)
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across clients, industries, and geographies
• Assist in improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews (federal, state, local)
• Support payroll tax activities and form preparation/review
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration (earnings, deductions, tax treatments)
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement
• Support classifications, wage treatment, and overtime calculations reviews
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver timely, accurate work
• Communicate payroll concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
