Job summary

FIS seeks an accomplished Principal Solution Architect to shape and govern a modern payments platform built on microservices. You’ll provide technical leadership across product and engineering, turning business strategy into a clear architectural roadmap, ensuring secure, scalable, and enterprise-aligned solutions.

You will mentor teams, drive architecture governance, and collaborate with senior leaders to resolve trade-offs across multiple delivery streams.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale software platforms.
• Proven leadership of architecture for distributed microservices across teams.
• End-to-end solution architecture ownership and roadmaps.
• Expertise in API design, event-driven architecture, domain-driven design, and system integration.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end solution architecture for payment capabilities across products and channels.
• Define current, target and transition architectures and guide platform modernization.
• Translate business needs into architecture principles and designs for delivery teams.
• Lead architecture governance with design reviews, decisions, and interface specs.
• Define service responsibilities and integration patterns for APIs and events.
• Ensure resilience, performance, security, and backward compatibility of solutions.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, security, and operations to align priorities.
• Provide architectural leadership for client engagements and complex implementations.
• Support delivery teams and maintain adherence to target architecture and standards.
• Mentor architects and strengthen architecture practices across the organization.
