Job summary

Regional seeks a Senior Principal Software Development Engineer to lead architecture, development, and modernization of FinTech platforms, guiding mission‑critical lending, payments, and financial operations.

This role acts as a senior technical authority, driving innovation across digital lending, payments, customer experiences, and financial systems while ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and compliant in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive software engineering experience at senior levels.
• Proven success delivering enterprise FinTech, banking, lending, payments, or financial services platforms.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, API development, and event-driven architecture.
• Lead adoption of AI-enabled software engineering practices and intelligent automation.
• Design architectures supporting generative AI, agent frameworks, knowledge retrieval, and decision intelligence.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies.
• Proficiency in Java, C#, Python, Go, or similar modern programming languages.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other enterprise data platforms.
• Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, containerization, and infrastructure automation.
• Strong understanding of software security, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the long-term technology strategy for customer-facing and backend financial platforms.
• Lead architecture decisions across distributed systems, APIs, event-driven services, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms.
• Drive modernization initiatives that improve scalability, performance, reliability, and developer productivity.
• Define and promote engineering standards, software design patterns, and development best practices.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, platforms, and product domains.
• Drive improvements in scalability, performance, resiliency, maintainability, and operational excellence.
