Job summary

Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre, PA is seeking a Senior Patient Access team member to provide front-line support, greet and register patients, and assist with scheduling and checkout processes.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior staff, maintaining HIPAA compliance, managing multi-channel messages, and ensuring accurate demographics, insurance details, and timely follow-up appointments in a busy department.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required.
• Minimum of 2 years related work experience - Required.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics.
• Assure all check-in procedures are completed and monitor wait times.
• Read and interpret insurance responses.
• Assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
• Communicate disclosures, privacy information and obtain signatures.
• Notify patient of anticipated financial responsibility and collect.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services.
