Job summary

Geisinger Primary Care Pittston is seeking a front-line Office Associate to support the department. You will greet and register patients, verify demographics, and help with the check-in and check-out processes.

The role handles insurance communications, collects payments, schedules follow-ups, and maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. A high school diploma and at least one year of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.
• Strong clerical and communication skills needed.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients for appointments and verify demographics accurately.
• Ensure all check-in procedures are completed and monitor patient wait times.
• Read and interpret insurance responses and assign primary/secondary/tertiary coverage as needed.
• Explain financial obligations to patients and collect fees at time of service.
• Complete regulatory forms with patients and obtain signatures.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services.
• Process messages related to appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patients of anticipated financial responsibility including copays and deductibles.
