Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Patient Access Specialist III Schedistrar I to manage scheduling of outpatient procedures and conduct comprehensive patient registrations. You will collect demographic, guarantor, and insurance details, and communicate required documents to patients and providers.

Ask and triage patient questions, provide cost estimates, and support the care team with accurate information while maintaining regulatory compliance and high service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with patient registration and/or financial counseling is preferred.
• Certifications in patient access or revenue cycle (e.g., CHAA, CPAR, CRCR) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule outpatient procedures for departments within the sphere of responsibility.
• Perform registration: gather demographic, guarantor, and insurance information during a single call.
• Enter patient information into the registration system.
• Obtain signatures and manage forms required by third-party payers.
• Respond to requests to reschedule or cancel appointments.
• Provide price estimates or triage requests for out-of-pocket expenses.
• Guide care teams with accurate, pertinent information for appointments.
• Mentor new staff and maintain QA accuracy in registration and billing processes.
