Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission projects. Responsibilities include modeling lines in PLS-CADD, calculating conductor sag, and reviewing vendor submittals.

Location options include several US sites or remote work. Qualified candidates have a BS in Civil Engineering, 4–6 years of experience in overhead transmission design, and proficiency in PLS-CADD, AutoCAD and MFAD; PE is a plus and up to 10% travel

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited school.
• 4-6 years of experience in overhead transmission design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office product applications, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, with high attention to detail.
• Great communication skills and the ability to discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• PE license is a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Must possess valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Perform structural analysis and design, perform foundation designs.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
